Buying

Finding your size in secondhand clothes

A size label tells you less on a secondhand piece than on a new one, because brands, decades and washing all change the fit. A measurement is the surest way to get it right.

Shop in the size system you know

A label might say EU 38 or US 8. When you filter by size, you can choose AU, EU, UK or US, and pieces listed in the other systems are matched for you.

Letter sizes like S, M and L are the same in every system, so they’re shown just as they are.

Kids’ sizes are a looser match

Kids’ clothes are sized by age in some countries and by height in others, so conversions between systems are approximate. If the fit matters, ask the seller for a measurement.

Measurements beat labels

The most reliable check is a tape measure: lay something that fits you well flat, measure it across the chest or waist and down the length, and compare it with the listing. If the numbers aren’t there, ask the seller.

Every conversion we use is in our size guide.
